Selling Dolls That Breastfeed

Many people knows that breastfeeding is one of the most natural ways of giving babies healthy milk. But what happens when this concept is made into a form of a doll--for children? Controversy.

A large percentage of parents are baffled over the fact that this type of doll is being sold in the United States. This doll is called "Breast Milk Baby." It costs approximately ninety dollars--a pretty hefty price for a doll that will get its head bumped on the floor more than a few times, and/or may suffer with "bruises."

The objective of the doll: to emulate the experience of breast feeding that many real-life mother do with their babies. Guess what? Besides the baby being in this package, one of the supplies include a bib, which is normal for any baby doll. Here's the catch: this toy creates sounds which indicates "sucking" and will cry if it does not get burped. Sounds pretty far-fetched and out of this world!

According to the manufacturer's spokesperson, it stated, "the whole purpose of Breast Milk Baby is to teach children the nurturing skills they'll need to raise their own healthy babies." This is an approach that many healthcare professionals embraces, in terms of suggesting that mothers feed their babies with breast milk for its health benefits.

Whoever created this toy should have known that controversy was around the corner. How can these people possibly believe that this doll will enhance a girl's knowledge of nurturing a baby, especially with breast feeding. Most of these girls are between the ages of eight and twelve. Many of these girls have not reached puberty prior to this doll being sold. This is like promoting "kiddie sex." In other words, many of these kids will "experiment" and become pregnant on purpose just for the sake of the breastfeeding experience.

This is not the first time the breastfeeding doll has been under fire. Two years earlier, there was a Spanish toymaker by the name of Berjuan, who came up with the concept of the breastfeeding doll. The doll's name is Bebe Gloton (Spanish for "gluttonous baby"). Anyway, the doll has a haltertop which covers the girls' nipples and they have the choice of dropping the flaps just like a nursing bra.

Anyone would be outraged about selling breastfeeding dolls to young children. The concept is just too advanced for these kids. The girls have a whole lifetime to become adults and to start and raise a family. That time will come somewhere in her future, maybe. Let them grow up normally and gracefully.
